Question: Sued for selling counterfeit iPhone cases.

I was sued last month by speck for selling counterfeit iPhone cases on eBay. I was served today and I'm being asked to pay $10,000.00. I was laid off of work and have no assets. Is there a possibility I can negotiate with them? I didn't make an amount not even significantly close to 10. There is no way I can come up with that sum in a week.

Answer: In most situations, settlement of a lawsuit is a negotiation. You should try to work out something that both sides can live with.
