Can I Patent an Idea Without a Lawyer

Question: I have an idea to link Gamers to Social Media sites. Do I need to get a lawyer because I know you can't patent a “Idea”?

I don't think my idea is or has been used between the two platforms. I can't find out without giving my idea info out just to be stolen and copied by a corporate business.

Answer: There is no requirement that you have a patent attorney prepare/file a patent application. However, if you plan on doing it yourself, you should familiarize yourself with the Manual of Patent Examining Procedure that can be found on the US patent office website.
