Do You Need a Utility and Design patent?

Question:  I own a design patent on a product, and I am wanting to know if I need a utility patent as well to be able to sell the product.

This is for a outdoor product which I am trying to sell. I want to make sure all of my ducks are in a row.

Answer: It can be more beneficial to have both a design patent and utility patent, but neither is required to sell your product.
