Question:  Is it better to trade mark a product first or patent it first

I've developed a system that I would like to market and I don't know which to do first try to patent system or trade mark it to produce then patent it I'm not sure even how this all works

Answer: Generally, with a limited budget, it might be better to spend your money on a patent first and then trademark second. You can still have trademark rights in the absence of registration. The same is not true for patent rights.
