Question: Do I need to renew a patent?

Question Detail: If I file for a patent now do I need to renew it? Is there any duration for a patent to be in effect? Can my grandchildren still benefit for a patented invention that I have?

Answer: A patent lasts for 20 years. There is no renewal. You can transfer ownership of your patent to your grandchildren.
