What Questions Should I Ask of a Prospective Patent Attorney

Posted by Michael Shimokaji | Dec 27, 2014 | 0 Comments

Question: Wanted to get your opinion on how to find a good patent attorney, what questions I should ask, and how to ensure that my idea is protected. I would also like to be mindful of the overall costs.

Answer: Being mindful of costs can be addressed by finding an attorney who will provide the services at a fixed cost. Though costs are important to all clients, you might want to keep in mind the adage of “you only get what you pay for.”

Another matter often overlooked by clients is whether they “click with the attorney.” Simply speaking with the attorney will give you a good idea of whether you are on the same wavelength. If you click with the attorney, your communications with the attorney will likely be more efficient and effective.
